science will kill us all

So, I'm scrolling through my my RSS feeds today, and I come across an article in the New York Times with the title (at least, as it appeared in my reader), "Scientists Sequence Genome of Ancient Plague Bacterium."

And I think.  Hm.  That's interesting.  It's about science! And then I read the blurb from the feed, to decide whether I wanna click through to the article.  The blurb:

Researchers who have reconstructed the full genome of the ancient plague microbe now hope to bring it back to life to study what made it so deadly.

So, am I the only person who thinks that this is a really, really bad idea?
